With the Storvretacupen competition having run for 30 years in Sweden Uppsala, this the 2nd run of their Asia edition and it will be happening in June 2024. Storvretacupen Singapore is open to registration from all countries. There is also the Storvreta Summercamp Singapore to look forward to, where participants can learn from the Swedish coaches as well as Swedish Super League Star Players.

YFA is truly honoured to be the first academy and club that will be bringing these world-level floorball events to Singapore.

Just over two years ago, Storvreta IBK started a partnership with Youth Floorball Academy (YFA) in Singapore. The partnership is part of Storvreta IBK’s goal to spread floorball and the club brand internationally, and is also in line with YFA’s goals to bring the Swedish way of floorball and open doors of opportunities for the floorball community in Southeast Asia.

“We have a lot of the same focus. We want to help spread floorball internationally and also look at how we can help society through floorball.” said Storvreta IBK’s chairman Ingemar Lundqvist.

Since then, Storvreta IBK and YFA have been in discussions about exchange programs, and bringing the iconic Storvreta events, Storvretacupen and Storvreta Summercamp, to Singapore.

Our plan realised in June 2022, where a delegation from Storvreta IBK joined Youth Floorball Academy in Singapore to host the inaugural Storvreta Summercamp Singapore.  Programs included training camps for Under-14 and Under-19 age categories, as well as for coaches. The Summercamp was a hit with over 100 sign ups, including players from Thailand, Korea and Cambodia. There was also an All Stars Match held between the Wondersticks-Storvreta All-Stars team and the National Under-19 Boys team which saw a combined on-site and online audience of over 5,000.

“For Storvreta IBK, it is important to be part of the international issues that need to be pursued so that floorball can continue to establish itself in Asia. I am convinced that the collaboration with the Youth Floorball Academy and that we are now taking the Storvretacupen to Singapore will in the long run also have a positive effect both locally in Singapore but also on an international level. Also for Storvreta IBK, this is of course also a fantastic opportunity to spread our philosophy of how we want to lead and educate children and young floorball players,” says Noél Alm Johansson, Asia manager for Storvreta IBK.

Among those who were in Singapore for the Summercamp Singapore 2023 included Swedish Super League (SSL) players Simon Gotz, Philip Bjork, Otto Weidman, Fredrik Lindholm and Andreas Stefansson, and coaches Jan Volak and Fredrick Nyback. From Storvreta IBK’s women’s team we saw Selma Frykholm, Rebecka Ulriksson, Vega Thor, Lina Andren, Karin Rikner and Jenny Larsson.

As the leading floorball academy in Singapore, Youth Floorball Academy believes in creating opportunities for Singapore and also the Southeast Asia floorball community.

“We are honoured to be working with Storvreta IBK to bring their exclusive world events closer to home, and believe that these programs open doors for all floorballers in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region to experience Swedish way of floorball. We have been sending our boys and girls teams to participate in the Storvretacupen in Sweden Uppsala since 2019 and we can see that our players have benefitted a lot from the experience. We now want to bring this same experience back here to Singapore by attracting more international teams to come and participate, so that they can enjoy our beautiful country and also so that more local floorball players can benefit from this international floorball experience. We are already in talks with some Asia teams while Storvreta IBK is in talks with teams in Europe about the event. Our aim is to make Storvretacupen Singapore the F1 of floorball in Asia and we are excited to announce the SSL players that will be coming this year!” says Norani Zaini, Chief Executive Officer of Youth Floorball Academy.
